Interactive Dark Mode Announcement
Google does a great job with its slick promotion for Dark Mode in Google Drive by showing users instead of telling. Their feature announcement allows users to turn on Dark Mode directly from the promotion itself, which reduces effort for users and increases activation rates. Many products would simply deeplink the user to their settings to enable this new feature. That approach has the added benefit of teaching users where to access this again in the future, but in this case, Dark Mode is likely not a setting that users need to change frequently.
While the announcement itself is well executed, there are two additional dismissible call-to-actions behind the announcement (card, banner). To optimize the user experience and engagement rates, Google can consider spreading these three promotions out across different screens and user sessions (e.g. cool-offs) to avoid overwhelming the user or feeling too promotional.
