Anthropic Onboarding Hint

Anthropic uses product hints to call out advanced features to new users (e.g. < 1 week signup, first time on web, etc.)

In this example, Anthropic is calling attention to the fact that users can change the tone of its responses. This is a subtle dropdown that may otherwise go unnoticed, so the hint helps drive adoption for a more advanced feature.

Further down the page, Anthropic uses an inline banner to promote its new CSV analysis feature. The banner is simple in design, with a "New" badge to draw attention and a CTA to try the feature out.

Preserving a Good UX

With just two promotions, it's not overly distracting, but Anthropic could consider spacing these experiences out for better engagement rates and a streamlined UX.

For instance, they could limit it to one experience per session. They could prioritize a new feature banner first because it's timely compared to the evergreen onboarding tip. Or, they could consider using targeting to avoid showing the new feature promotion to new users cohorts since every feature is new to these users, anyway.
